level up
I always want to be the best I can at whatever I do - so I'm never going to stop grinding. In the lash business, new techniques and technologies are being introduced regularly. As the industry grows, you have to get on the train or get left behind. I'm not competing with other lash experts, I'm trying to learn from them. To that end, I found myself in Brooklyn, New York this past weekend leveling up my lash game - not just for me, but because I want my clients to experience the very best.
I'd been following a lash artist from Canada on Instagram and she inspired me. When I learned she would be in New York doing an advanced training, I signed up immediately and I'm so glad I did. The class was fabulous. The LASHGOD team was professional, they knew their stuff and were so much fun to learn from. You can best believe I'll be traveling to Canada sometime in the near future to visit them.
A few days before heading to New York, I realized I needed a live model to lash on day two of training. It kind of stressed me out a little because I don't really know anyone in Brooklyn, but thank you Erykah R. for working your magic. Just look at the beautiful young lady that showed up (in the video below). Shahadah, thank you girl for letting me do your lashes.
All in all, mission accomplished and I am growing in an industry I love. Since the first day, so many doors have opened for me just by me finding the courage to take that first step.
believe in yourself
No matter what you choose to do, just start. Take a giant leap of faith into your destiny. You have to put yourself out there so people can know how to support you, so you can make the right connections, build your knowledge and learn to fly. Is it scary? Yes, at times it is, but if you don't try, you'll never discover what great things you're capable of. Are there people that will try to discourage you? Absolutely! But why would you ever listen to them? When it's all said and done, what you believe about yourself is the only thing that has the power to make or break you.
have fun
Whatever you do, make sure you enjoy your life. Make sure you have people around you that you love and that love you. No matter what business you're handling, don't neglect yourself, your health, your emotional well-being, your spirituality, or your happiness. Be very intentional about building fun and self-care time into your life.

Aunt Benita, I thank God for you! This trip would not have been the same without you. I went to increase my knowledge about lashes, but you showed me so much more. You introduced me to the city. You will always be the first person I experienced Time Square and Ground Zero with. I enjoyed your company and had such a great time traveling with you. Where are we going next? :)
