Frequently asked questions

Can I get a Brazilian/bikini wax if I'm on my period?

During your period you may experience heightened skin sensitivity in your Brazilian area. For a more comfortable waxing experience we recommend waiting until your cycle is over.

Can I get a wax while I'm pregnant?

At myEgo we love being able to pamper our new mom’s! We understand that after a certain point in your pregnancy you will have a hard time reaching many areas. So we’re here to help! You can in fact get waxed while you’re pregnant. However, due to the hormonal changes your body is dealing with you may experience heightened skin sensitivity. We will make sure we accommodate your needs during your service to assure your comfort.

If my skin is irritated, can I get a wax?

We DO NOT perform any waxing services on skin that appears to be in an agitated or unhealthy state. To protect you and your skin we suggest waiting until your skin is back to it’s healthy self.

What are your age restrictions for waxing?

Getting waxed as a teen is 100% normal, at myEgo we will not wax anyone under the age of 16 years old, any clients under that age are required to have parental consent for all waxing services.

Can I get waxed if I'm on medication?

Please be honest and transparent with us about any medications you’re taking. Waxing and prescribed medications are not always the best combination. It’s vital that you’re honest and transparent with us about any medications you’re taking. If your using certain prescribed creams such as Retin-A, we recommend you stop use of the product 7 days prior to your appointment, and do not resume use until 7 days after your wax. We will NOT be able to wax you if you are on Accutane or have been in the past 6 months. Waxing on Accutane is very dangerous and will require a doctor's note for us to service you.

Do I have remove my piercings?

DO I HAVE TO REMOVE MY PIERCINGS? You don’t have to remove your piercings however it is recommended for the most thorough hair removal service. If you prefer not to please let your waxologist know, and they will work around the piercing, but they may not be able to remove all of the hair near it.

How often should I get waxed?

The hair growth cycle lasts 28 days long, so you should get waxed at least every 4 weeks. However, your waxologist will analyze your hair and give you instructions based on both your hair type and growth. Facial and underarm waxes are sometimes preformed every 2 weeks.

What is causing my ingrown hairs?

Some people are naturally prone to getting ingrown hairs no matter what they do to combat them. If you are predisposed to getting them this means skincare regimen is needed. Using an exfoliating product like a scrub starting two days after your appointment, once a day for two weeks, and practicing proper hair removal will help treat and prevent ingrown.

How long does my hair need to be to get waxed?

Two weeks of hair growth is usually the minimum amount of time needed for the hair to be the optimum length of a 1/4”. Please do not shave or trim your hair prior to your appointment. If the hair is too short to wax then the wax won’t be able to grab the hair and you will not be able to get successfully waxed.

Why should I get waxed?

Waxing is one of the best forms of temporary hair removal. Instead of removing the hair just on the surface it removes the hair straight from the root, causing the hair to grow back softer and thinner.

Is it normal for men to get waxed?

Yes it’s perfectly normal and very common for men to get waxed. We do every hair removal service on men except manzilians and buttocks.

Can I shave in between my appointments?

Waxing helps slow down and reduce hair growth, making it thinner causing the hair removal process to become easier over time. Since shaving bluntly cuts the hair at the surface of the follicle, doing so in between a wax would undo all of the progress made with waxing. Shaving can also cause those annoying ingrown hairs so we don’t recommend shaving in between waxes.
